It was so convenient to do a one-click shortcut to desktop. What I have found as a workaround is a two-click method. I created a send to desktop desklink file. Then I use the standard create shortcut option to create the shortcut then use the newly created send to desktop to finish the operation.

I believe there is a Registry tweak to fix the broken Send To function. You might try posting to a Win98 newsgroup to see if someone will provide that. I merged it into the registry, rebooted and still-no option to "send to desktop (create shortcut)". If you can tell me how that appeared there to begin with, maybe I can do whatever I did to get it there in the first place. Something to do with TweakUI, Internet Explorer? Was this built into Win98 to start with?
